Experience an unforgettable day out on the water with Captain GW here in the Florida Keys. For the convenience of our anglers, we offer several fishing trip options. Our trips range from 4, 6, and 8 hours depending on the targeted species and goals of our anglers. During the spring and early summer, we also offer a 4 hour evening/sunset live bait tarpon trip that is perfect for those looking to challenge the elusive Silver King.
We recommend our general backcountry trip for most anglers. This trip is best suited for our anglers with a timeframe of 6 or 8 hours due to the travel time it takes us to get to prime fishing grounds, while also accounting for tide swings which can influence fishing activity. While fishing with Captain GW, anglers will learn about the backcountry of the Florida Keys, and our diverse ecosystem while enjoying world-class fishing.
Being an avid nature and wildlife photographer, the captain enjoys spending time in the backcountry of Everglades National Park at sunrise and sunset to capture picturesque landscape photos as well as countless wading birds like roseate spoonbills, multiple types of egrets and herons. Birds of prey such as bald eagles, ospreys and hawks are also seen often. Marine mammals like dolphin, manatees, and even crocodiles can been seen on trips.
All trips include the necessary tackle needed to fish, applicable fishing licenses, permits, and entry fees into the Everglades National Park. For larger parties, multiple boats and captains can be easily be arranged in advance to accommodate your group.
TARGETED SALTWATER SPECIES
While exploring the Everglades National Park, or the backcountry waters of the Florida Keys, we target all inshore fish species. These include snook, redfish, trout, tarpon, permit, bonefish, and sharks. The captain primarily targets snook and redfish as they put up a great fight for our anglers.
While fishing with Captain GW, anglers will use some of the best fishing tackle available while utilizing custom hand-tied bucktail jigs, soft plastics, and flies. A full compliment of spinning tackle and fly outfits are available for use and our anglers are more than welcome to bring their own saltwater grade rods and reels. Please notify and ask the captain prior to bringing your own fishing tackle to ensure it is well suited for your trip.
FISHING TRIP RATES
All trips are customized to best suit the needs of our anglers. The following prices listed below are for 1-2 passengers. An additional passenger can be accommodated, however an additional 3rd angler fee of $50 may apply. We accept credit cards as well as cash for trip payments.
Cash is preferred for trip balances and captain’s gratuities.
